BLACK, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL! (Black is the new gold)

Starting your day in high spirits until you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. Your coarse hair all messy, sleeping bags around your eyes and your dark skin unbearable. A few blemishes here and there, you wish you could change them all forgetting that you are the definition of perfect.

Tim wants to get into his new boss’s good side. Missy lends him a hand by hypnotizing Tim’s boss and lucky for Tim he secures the job. This does not play well with Barracuda who decides to sabotage Tim’s relationship by informing Missy that she wasn’t supposed to be on the trip. Informing her it was all a mishap.

Missy leaves Hawaii disappointed after she realizes Tim insulted her. The right Missy arrives in Hawaii but Tim is already over her and in love with the wrong Missy. Tim quits his boring job and pursues the wrong Missy.

MAMA AFRICA! (Zinzile Makeba)

Ever heard of “mama africa”, let me give you a little insight. Zinzile Miriam Makeba. If you are a history enthusiast you will know a fact or two about this phenomenal woman. From her music to activism during the apartheid rule in South Africa.

Mama Africa!

Miriam Makeba was born on 4th March, 1932 in Johannesburg to Xhosi and Swazi parents. With that said, a merry natal day to the late African idol who passed away on 9th November, 2008. She was an astounding singer, songwriter, actress, United Nations goodwill ambassador and a civil rights activist.

Happy birthday.

The late Miriam Makeba was associated with acts like the Cuban brothers, the Skylarks, Harry Belafonte, Hugh Masekela and Nina Simone just to mention but a few. She was married to Stokely Carmichael. Mama Africa was best known for her song “pata pata”.

Black don’t crack.

They say black don’t crack, it never has and never will. Through the years she has proven to be a strong woman who worked towards fighting for her people above all else. She was among the first africans to receive awards in the United States of America. Sadly she passed on in Castle Volturno, Italy during a concert.

Shine on legend.

Though she’s not with us, her fighting spirit and music lives on. She was the voice that brought hope to her people. She will forever remain legendary. The late Nelson Mandela praised her during her funeral saying “her music inspired a powerful sense of hope I all of us”. Rest easy Mama Africa.

NO, NOT ME!(Imposter Syndrome)

Ever felt like you do not deserve something or you are not capable of doing something. Your own conscience taunting you, convincing you that you are an imposter. Beating yourself up for not achieving everything that you crave.

Don’t beat yourself up~osengwa

Well, you have come to the right place. I will tell you exactly why you feel like you are an imposter and how to handle it. As an individual, you tend to believe that you are not as competent and worthy to accomplish certain tasks. You perceive yourself as a fraud or phony. You consider achievements as nothing but mere luck. The imposter syndrome is characterized by self doubt, fear of not living up to society’s expectations, setting unrealistic goals and feeling disappointed when you fall short.

Step out of the shadows.

You can overcome imposter syndrome by sharing your feelings, focus on others, assess your abilities, take baby steps, stop comparing yourself with other people and stop fighting your feelings. Allow yourself to be vulnerable but not for a long time. Just enough to motivate you.

Let your light out.~osengwa

Failure might be overwhelming but it’s should not hold you back. Step out of the shadows and let the light in you out. Avoid avoidance and procrastination due to fear that you will not accomplish your goals. When facing glory for certain achievements,no matter how small they may be instead of saying “No, not me!” replace it with “Yes, I deserve every ounce of the glory” because you most definitely do. Put yourself out there and all the best.
